About Volkswagen Up!
Victor Brady bought this Volkswagen Up! Used in 2022 for $6000 (including all on-road costs). Victor Brady would buy this car again because: “The up! Is seriously underrated, if you use less than 5l/100km per day but don’t want a takeaway container on wheels? The up! Definitely.” Right up your street, great car and feels like a very expensive car.”
How reliable has your car been? Let us know about any issues.
It’s been absolutely bulletproof, servicing is very cheap as it’s only three cylinders and parts are cheap too, not just for a Volkswagen.
My last service included brake pads, brake fluid, brake rotor machining and general fluid and filters and was under $500, try that with a Mazda 3
What about the ownership experience with your car?
I had no idea what to expect when I bought it, I’ve driven every small car in this category and it was honestly like comparing a black and gold frozen pizza to a wood fired pizza (example only). I can come up with).
These cars are amazing value for money.
Are you happy with the price and features of your car?
Considering the $6k I get heated leather seats, premium six speaker sound system, bluetooth, sat nav are some of the things I couldn’t be happier with, the only thing I can think of is the lack of cruise control, It was an option. But very few achieved it
What do you think about your car’s performance and economy?
It’s only a three-cylinder with 75 excellent German horsepower so it’s pretty weak in any overtaking attempts, it does a pretty good job of turning the car around as it only weighs 900kg and you Never leaves a bad spot, towing is done with surprisingly little effort on the highway.
The whole time I have owned it! It never uses more than 4.4l/100km and the 98 RON costs about $70 to fill up. Volkswagen recommends at least 95 but the price difference is so small that I only use 98.
What about the technology in your car?
It is very well equipped for a car that is now 11 years old and was marketed as an affordable city car.
The Mira was optioned from new with the “Comfort Line” package which includes heated leather seats, a Bluetooth/SatNav-enabled Garmin touchscreen, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, fog lights and 17-inch alloy wheels. There were some options included. .
Cruise control would be nice though.
How about your ride comfort and handling of your car?
At 900kg it feels very glued to the road, the suspension set up is also very good, the car feels on the road with very little body roll even when you push it harder than you should. are It’s very smooth and quiet on the highway, among all the small cars I tested before I decided on my The up! was the best so far.
It doesn’t feel like a small city car on the highway, it feels like a Golf with a lot of praise.
Do you have any additional comments about your car?
I’m 6 foot 1 and I fit myself! very comfortable.
I bought one because I wanted something with motorbike fuel economy but the benefits of having a car
