- 2020-2022 Kia Sorento recalled.
- due to possible failure of the transmission electric oil pump
- Just over 8,500 examples of the current generation were affected
Kia Australia has recalled more than 8,500 examples of the Sorento large SUV due to a manufacturing defect.
The issue affects 8572 units of the current generation ‘MQ4’ model manufactured between 2020 and 2022.
According to the recall notice, variations in yield “may cause cracks in the printed circuit board (PCB) of the transmission electric oil pump (EOP), which may lead to failure of the EOP”.
“If the EOP (electric oil pump) fails, hydraulic pressure will be lost and the vehicle may lose drive, increasing the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and road users. “
Kia Australia said affected owners should contact dealerships immediately to schedule an appointment to have the transmission software updated free of charge.
