gave 2023 Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport One of Australia’s most popular light SUVs has arrived in local showrooms with a minor update.
It’s based on the mid-size Yaris Cross GXL FWD Hybrid, and costs $35,840 before on-road costs – making it $850 more expensive than the flagship Urban FWD Hybrid.
New additions include unique five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, 10 mm lower and tuned suspension, GR Sport badging inside and out, a unique front grille with a mesh pattern, and black side mirrors.
There is also Red brake calipers, Black synthetic leather and suede upholstery, Aluminum pedalsand one Bottom floor brace.

It also features a A USB-C port and an air-purifying system on the dashboardwhich is also new for the range-topping Urban.
As announced in May, the flagship grade gets black leather-accented upholstery, replacing its previous brown cloth/leather combination.
Also, the performance-focused, no-cost steel wheel option has been deleted from the entry-level GX, while the Urban can no longer be specified with a bronze two-tone roof.
The Yaris Cross range is priced from $26,990, up to $37,990 plus on-roads for the flagship all-wheel drive hybrid variant.

Four grades of Yaris Cross – GX, GXL, GR Sport and Urban – are available, with three powertrain choices for a total of 10 variants.
Toyota Australia now offers GR Sport variants for the LandCruiser 300, C-HR and Yaris Cross, with the top-of-the-line versions of the RAV4 and Corolla offered in Europe.
A HiLux GR Sport – replacing the current Rugged X – will debut here in the second half of 2023.
In the light SUV class, Toyota Yaris Cross competes with Mazda CX-3, Kia Stonic, Hyundai Venue and Ford Puma, among others.

Toyota Connected Services
Toyota Connected Services is standard on the Yaris Cross, which features; Automatic collision notification, SOS emergency call, stolen vehicle tracking, guest driver settings, vehicle function conditions, and current vehicle location.
The SIM-based service is free for three years from the date of delivery of the vehicle.

Engine, drivetrain, and fuel economy
The front-drive petrol variants are powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine that produces 88kW of power and 145Nm of torque.
This powertrain is mated to a CVT automatic transmission.
Front-drive hybrids use a 67kW/120Nm 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine mated to two electric motors, for a maximum combined power output of 85kW.

All-wheel drive versions use the same hybrid engine and battery setup as the 2WD hybrid, but add an electric motor to the rear axle.
This variant can send up to 100 percent of power to the front wheels, or split delivery with 40 percent front and 60 percent rear.
Front-wheel drive variants feature torsion-beam rear suspension, while all-wheel drive gets a multi-link setup.

Toyota Yaris Cross has a wheelbase of 2560 mm, and is 4180 mm long, 1765 mm wide and 1560 mm high.
Despite sharing its name with the Yaris hatchback, the Yaris Cross is 240mm longer, 20mm wider and 85mm taller.

With the rear seats folded, the front-wheel drive Toyota Yaris Cross has a 390 liter boot capacity. This has been reduced to 317 liters on all-wheel drive variants.

Warranty and Servicing
In line with Toyota’s wide range, the Yaris Cross comes with a five-year, unlimited kilometer vehicle warranty, a seven-year warranty on the engine and driveline, and a 10-year warranty on the hybrid battery.
The Japanese manufacturer also offers limited-price servicing to customers, with servicing costing $205 with the first five dealer visits.
