OhYour little Lightning McQueen wannabe has really stepped it up a notch over the past couple of months. Forged engine, big turbo, Haltec engine management and 822 freakin horses in the rear.

Unfortunately, as impressive as the shopping list is, it has yet to give Mazda a new PB. Much to Scotty’s dismay his best still sits at 9.04 @152mph, even with an extra 250rwhp to play with.

Regular viewers who watched last week’s episode will know that the problem lies in Mazda’s launch and 60ft timing. It can haul a freight train down the track no problem, but even with two steps and a transbrake, that big turbo struggles to boost the line. So, what is the solution? Totally nitrous!

In this episode, Scotty talks about putting 100 shots of dry nitrous on the Mazda, which he can spray on the line to help boost the car before he lets go of that transbrake button and Let all hell break loose. That will be especially important next year when Mazda is racing at events like the Canada 660, where you don’t have half a year to promote the line.

Scotty runs through all the little tips and tricks he has for setting up a nitrous kit perfect for Fast and Furious, because who doesn’t want a nitrous purge?

With the kit installed and configured, Scotty also decided to install a new intercooler that will be supplied to us by Proflow. The old cooler was an ebay deal and doesn’t really cut it now we’re pushing over 1000hp at the crank. The new Proflow is not only bigger, but also features their cool delta fin design for added performance.

With all that done, it was time to head back to Heathcote, this time for their twilight test and to see if nitrous was the missing factor to achieve that eight-second time slip. Make sure you tune in on Friday folks, because the next episode is going to be a cracker!
