On January 9, marked as a rest day during the race, BFGoodrich®, official tire partner of the Dakar Rally since the 2002 edition, presented the Dakar Rally Organization and the Saudi Green Initiative Association of the Philippines. Organized a campaign to clean the desert in partnership. . In Riyadh, 40 community volunteers worked with teams on the ground to responsibly dispose of more than 70 large trash bags.
The clean-up drive was organized as a part of the 45th edition of the Dakar Rally which is currently being held between 31 December 2022 and 15 January 2023. In efforts to unite the off-roading community, volunteers joined the first Saudi woman, Dania Aqeel. to obtain a motorcycle circuit racing license and Abdulaziz Al-Fazli, an automotive journalist and racing driver known as the Saudi Stag, who participated in the cleanup.
The aim of the campaign was to invite the larger community to clean up waste in the desert to promote sustainable habits and responsible use of public land to preserve Saudi Arabia’s pristine desert landscape.
