German luxury automaker BMW today launched the Indian edition of the largest amateur golf tournament – BMW Golf Cup 2023 in Chennai.
The golf tournament will help at the regional level and the winners of the regional tournaments will participate in the national finals to be held in November 2023. The best players from each country qualify for the World Finals.
India is one of the 50 countries participating in the BMW Golf Cup 2023 World Finals, a global series with 1,000 qualifying tournaments involving 1,00,000 players.
About the BMW Golf Cup
First started as a BMW invitational tournament in the UK, it has now grown into a global series with 1,000 qualifying tournaments involving 100,000 players from up to 50 countries.
The golf tournament will be held at prestigious golf courses in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Noida, Kolkata and Gurgaon.
An exclusive, invitation-only event, the BMW Golf Cup 2023 is open only to golfers who are members of recognized golf clubs in the country. Tournaments are conducted according to the rules of the local golf club concerned.
The BMW Golf Cup has three categories, A (for handicaps up to 12), B (for handicaps from 13 to 28) and Ladies Category (for handicaps up to 28). Winners, runners-up and second runners-up of the individual handicap categories qualify for the national finals.
The winners of each of the three handicap categories at the National Finals qualify to compete in the World Finals of the BMW Golf Cup. BMW dealers identify amateur golfers among BMW owners who may be interested in participating in the tournament.
