At the 2023 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, Jodhpur-based electric vehicle startup DEVOT Motors unveiled its electric bicycle. The maximum speed of the bike is 120 km per hour. The production-ready prototype vehicle is powered by a high-efficiency 9.5 KW motor with a range of 200 km on a single charge. The bike gets fully charged in 3 hours and is perfect for both daily commuting and long journeys.
The electric vehicle business has established an R&D center in the UK and a development center in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The CEO of DEVOT Motors developed a ground-breaking electric motorcycle with a 200km range during research in the UK. He then set up a firm in India and returned to his hometown Jodhpur with a motorcycle.
After homologation, the bike is expected to hit Indian roads by mid-2023. The brand has set a target of 70-90% localization. The EV startup is all set to attract riders who do not compromise on comfort and performance after conducting extensive market research. This research was conducted in determining client likes and dislikes, building the entire supplier base, prototyping and other initiatives. The aesthetics of the bike are quite clean and classic. There are many good paint possibilities for the tank and side cover panels.
The bike is expected to be priced around Rs 1.5 lakh and is powered by a 2.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It is equipped with a regenerative braking system, reverse assist and a smartphone app for tracking and diagnostics. The bike will come with a top speed of 95 kmph and a range of 200 km on a single charge. The company has also set up charging stations across Jodhpur and plans to expand to other cities.
The bike features advanced technologies for rider convenience, including a TFT screen, a keyless system with anti-theft, and a Type 2 charging point. DEVOT Motors Lithium LFP battery is less prone to deep discharge problems. The bike was designed by DEVOT keeping in mind environmental sustainability in addition to its great performance. An EV bike is a more eco-friendly option than conventional petrol-powered motorbikes as it emits less emissions and uses less energy.
