A very tragic accident occurred earlier this week involving a silver Toyota sedan and a 77-year-old man. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt, but the Montgomery County car wash will definitely need a serious rebuild in the coming weeks. A security camera caught the crash and you can watch the video at the top of this page.
According to local authorities, the man accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and his Toyota accelerated into the car wash and crashed into the building. As a result of the crash, which occurred at the Wave Car Wash on the 200 block of Bethlehem Pike in Colmar at about 2:30 p.m., the driver was trapped inside the car for about an hour and a half before emergency services rescued him. . .
A report from 6abc.com says the victim was rushed to a local hospital with an injured leg, although his overall condition is stable and safe. The same can’t be said for the Toyota, whose right front fender is severely damaged and may be completely gone. Meanwhile, Darren Kapanji, the owner of the car wash, released a statement about the state of his business.
“We’re just glad no one was seriously injured. This was a serious accident that’s very unfortunate for our customers and our equipment. It’s not easy being a small business owner, accidents like this don’t make it any easier. But Hey, we have an amazing customer base that is as committed to us as we are to them.
Another video (Attached above) shows the car being pulled from the car wash with its roof cut off to make room for the rescue team to free the driver. The Hatfield Township fire marshal reportedly said 6abc.com It was the first time he had answered such a call in his entire life. We are glad everyone is safe and wish the driver a speedy recovery.
