Update, January 13, 2023: Subaru WRX Sportswagon STI Sport, Impreza STI Parts Prototype Revealed. Not for Australia.
Subaru has unveiled several new concepts at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, including a limited-edition Levorg STI Sport # and a next-generation Impreza prototype with STI-developed parts.
“It is incredibly exciting to see the vehicles that Subaru Corporation has revealed at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon. While there are no current plans for these models to come to Australia, we are always interested in what our what is available in the market,” said a Subaru spokesperson. Australia.

Its display was headlined by a new-generation Impreza prototype fitted with STI parts, a tuned Levorg STI Sport # (known as the WRX Sportswagon in Australia), and a Crosstrek Boost Gear concept.
Sportier WRX Wagon (Picture below) is based on the production Japanese-market Levorg STI Sport R EX, which is similar to the range-topping WRX tS sold in Australia.
It received several modifications – including a better ride and handling tune, 19-inch forged BBS alloy wheels, Recaro front seats, and suede upholstery.

It will be limited to 500 units for Japan.
Meanwhile, the Japanese (and right-hand drive) sixth-generation Impreza hatch will debut at the event, first revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2022.
A prototype version of the Impreza equipped with STI parts is “under development and built to sportier specifications.”
However, there are no changes under the bonnet, with the outgoing 2.0-litre petrol adding a hybrid option.

It is based on the next-generation Crosstrek small SUV, which also received a customized prototype at the event.
Subaru claims that the Crosstrek Boost Gear concept is “packed with maneuverability that evokes the adventurous spirit of an active lifestyle”, with it being fitted with a number of optional equipment available in Japan.

The third-generation Subaru Crosstrek – replacing the XV nameplate – will launch in Australia in early 2023, while the Impreza hatch is expected around the middle of the year.
Subaru’s new Rex light SUV – the Japan-only twin to the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky – also got an off-road-focused concept, while the brand showcased three racers: the BRZ GT300 from the 2022 season, and the WRX NBR Challenge and the upcoming WRX Rally Challenge for the 2023 Championship.
It joins the debut of other brands including Honda. 2023 Tokyo Auto SalonHeld between 13 and 15 January.
