Citroen India has had a good run with the C3 hatch and C5 Aircross. It’s not news that Citroen is working on an EV based on the C3.
While the upcoming mass-market EV is in the news, Citroen India has revealed the name of the C3-based EV. Dubbed the eC3, the new EV is set to debut soon. The teaser released by Citroen India doesn’t give us many details but it looks like we’ll see a few more teasers in the next few days.
Citroen eC3 Revealed and Speculation Begins
Initially, it was reported that the eC3 will be launched in March 2023. We were expecting this reveal to happen at the 2023 Auto Expo. That may still be true, however, as Citroen may surprise us with a much earlier reveal of the vehicle. Maybe an early Christmas reveal is on the cards. It is also possible that Citroen will reveal the eC3 this year and officially launch it at the Auto Expo. Either way, we’re excited!
Citoen eC3 design and specs
The eC3 is based on the C3 currently on sale in India. It shares the platform and design of its ICE sibling and is expected to get very minute visual changes. We only expect to see EV-specific branding and perhaps a new color scheme and EV-specific accents. Just like the Tata ICE and EV siblings. The eC3 is speculated to be equipped with a 30.5 kWh battery with a claimed range of 300-350 km. The 63 kW motor will produce around 85 hp and 143 Nm of torque. It will be the only EV in its class. We expect it to be priced between the Tiago EV and the Tigor EV. This will make it one of the most affordable EVs on the market. The price could very well be under ₹ 10 lakh.
