After several teasers, the fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee has been launched in India. The all-new Grand Cherokee is based on an all-new architecture.

What’s new?
First, the new GC is based on an all-new architecture for improved efficiency and performance both on and off the road. The SUV gets new design elements, a new safety kit, connected car tech, and many other features. Let’s take a look at what the new SUV has to offer.
Power train
The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 2.0L petrol mill that produces 272 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. 4X4 variants also feature the popular 4×4 Quadra-Trac system which includes an active transfer case that transfers torque to the wheel with the most grip to increase traction. Thanks to the new virtual ball joint front and multi-link rear suspension, the SUV offers excellent ride and handling. Sadly, there is no diesel option. 🙁
Safety
Jeep has focused on the safety features of the new Grand Cherokee. It gets a security kit that includes more than 110 security features. 73% of the GCs body is made of high strength and high strength steel. It is equipped with 8 airbags and three-point seat belts and has occupant detection on all 5 seats. It also gets Active Driving Assistance System (ADAS) and driver drowsiness alerts. A 360-degree view camera also makes it to the safety kit. In addition, Jeep Grand Cherokee offers 33 connectivity features including 24X7 dedicated assistance, remote vehicle management, monitor vehicle parameters, navigation and connected traffic and travel, 24-hour monitoring and automatic crash/breakdown detection.
