Information about Mugen’s Civic is scant, possibly being wrapped up as a surprise for next year’s TAS — an event ostensibly supposed to be Japan’s version of North America’s SEMA show.
The Mogen ZR-VE: HEV Mogen Custom Concept (below), however, revealed in the photos, has been modified with a Maughan-designed front bumper, side skirts, tailgate spoiler and various black accents, including graphics, mirror caps and wheels.
“Mugen Power 2023” is the brand’s theme for next year’s TAS, and it will also bring two Mugen-powered open-wheel racers from the All Japan Super Formula Championship.

It is Japan’s highest form of Formula racing, with the FIA-backed series costing just under Formula 3 but ahead of LMP2 in terms of FIA Super License points.
While Mugen ZR-V modifications are limited to aesthetics, Mugen’s upcoming 2023 Civic Type R show car will likely further showcase the brand’s legacy as a performance components manufacturer.
Mogan was founded in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda, the son of Soichiro Honda, the legendary founder of the Honda Motor Company.
The Tokyo Auto Salon will be held from January 13 to 15 in Chiba, near Tokyo, Japan.
