Luxury automaker Lexus is all set to introduce the 2023 version of its upcoming RX SUV at the Auto Expo. The RX, which is in its fifth generation avatar, was launched globally in June this year.
Packed with fresh styling and unique elements, the RX will be introduced in two variants and an updated hybrid powertrain. Apart from Volvo, Lexus will be the only other luxury automaker to be present at the Auto Expo 2023.
About the new RX
Considered the brand’s first model to get connected car technology, the RX’s powertrain is more powerful and efficient. With the RX being the company’s flagship model, Lexus has gone all out by completely revamping the luxury crossover.
New exterior
From the RZ, Lexus’ new spindle body design language carries over to the RX with larger dimensions. The wheelbase of the SUV is now 60mm longer while it covers more area thanks to its wider tracks. The front track has been widened by 15mm while it measures 40mm at the rear.
The SUV now looks more like a coupe as its roofline has been reduced by 10mm. Its revised front features a sleek set of headlamps with an aggressive grille. The company has also updated the design of alloy wheels and slimmer tail lamps.
Updated interior and features
Inside, a 14-inch touchscreen takes center stage that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and houses a wireless charging pad. Android Auto still requires your phone to be connected to the car via a cable, though.
A 360-degree parking camera as well as a digital rearview monitor are also part of the package. The interior sports a minimalistic configuration and is dressed in soft-touch vegan synthetic leather to enhance the premium quotient.
The RX gets ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, active steering assist, and a collision risk monitor.
Powertrain Options
The version currently sold in India comes with the 450h powertrain. But internationally, the RX SUV comes with the option of multiple hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
In 2020, Lexus’ presence in India further strengthened with the introduction of its first locally produced model, the ES 300h. Currently, the Japanese luxury automaker has a physical presence in 13 cities and 15 guest touch points across the country.
