Pune-based EV technology startup Weber Drivetrain has launched its state-of-the-art automated manufacturing facility for BLDC hub motor and controller at Chikan MIDC, Pune, Maharashtra.
For the first phase of setting up a production facility for 100% Made in India BLDC HUB Motors, the company is investing Rs 35 crore. Prashant Shetty and Sachin Jain co-founded Weber Drivetrain. Mr. Prashant Shetty has a distinguished career spanning 24 years in the automotive business and 5 years in the electric vehicle sector.
Weber Drivetrain has committed a total investment of Rs 35 crore in Phase 1 to set up a manufacturing facility under the “MAKE IN INDIA” initiative for the future of E-Mobility through a combination of internal and collaborative R&D. . To manufacture 100% Made in India BLDC HUB motors and controllers for electric vehicles in compliance with Indian market regulatory norms, the production facility will integrate significant automation, including the latest semi-robotics and state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment.

With a capacity ranging from 0.25 kW to 4 kW and the ability to cater to multiple markets including e-bikes, e-scooters and e-motorcycles, the manufacturing plant is fully operational under the initiative of Atmanarbhar Bharat. . The Weber Drivetrain team, led by Prashant Shetty, has vast experience and knowledge in EV component manufacturing, and will support OEMs who build vehicles by facilitating end-to-end vehicle integration solutions. By December 2022, Weber Drivetrain hopes to introduce its line of products and solutions.
